1. Clone and build the node
Clone the BelizeChain repository and build the node binary. This compiles the Substrate runtime with all 19 custom pallets.
git clone https://github.com/BelizeChain/belizechain.git cd belizechain && cargo build --release
2. Start local development chain
Launch a single-node development chain with temporary storage. The node will produce blocks on demand when transactions are submitted.
./target/release/belizechain-node --dev --tmp
3. Install contract tooling
Install cargo-contract to compile, deploy, and interact with ink! smart contracts on BelizeChain.
cargo install cargo-contract --force
4. Create your first contract
Scaffold a new ink! contract, build it, and deploy to your local node. The hello-belizechain example shows the basic pattern.
cargo contract new hello_belize cd hello_belize && cargo contract build --release
5. Install the SDK
Install the GEM SDK to interact with contracts from JavaScript or TypeScript.
npm install @belizechain/gem-sdk @polkadot/api @polkadot/api-contract
