Glossary
Core terminology used in BelizeChain documentation and tooling.
A–C
Account — A cryptographic address holding DALLA/bBZD. Accounts can be user-controlled (private key), contract accounts (deployed code), or multi-signature accounts.
AML (Anti-Money Laundering) — Regulatory monitoring implemented by the Compliance pallet: transaction-pattern monitoring and suspicious activity reporting to the Financial Services Commission (FSC).
bBZD — The Belize Dollar stablecoin, pegged 1:1 to BZD. 12 decimals. Used for everyday payments, payroll, and commerce.
BABE (Blind Assignment for Blockchain Extension) — The block production algorithm. Validators are assigned slots via a verifiable random function; BelizeChain produces blocks every 6 seconds.
BelizeID — The national digital identity issued by the Identity pallet, with three KYC levels and salted-hash storage of sensitive identifiers.
BelizeX — BelizeChain's on-chain DEX/AMM (runtime index 28), providing liquidity pools and tourism-discounted swaps.
BNS (Belize Name Service) — The .bz domain registry (runtime index 33) with permanent ownership, marketplace, and Pakit-hosted websites.
Conviction voting — Locking tokens for longer increases voting weight, up to 6x, in governance decisions.
D–G
DALLA — The native token of BelizeChain: fees, staking, governance, and smart-contract operations. 12 decimals.
Federated learning — Training models across institutions without centralizing data. Nawal coordinates rounds where each participant trains locally and submits encrypted updates.
GRANDPA — The finality gadget that provides Byzantine fault-tolerant block finalization.
Genesis — The first block of a chain. The Ceiba testnet was re-genesised on 2026-09-29, resetting all prior chain state.
H–P
ink! — The Rust-based smart contract language (version 5.1.1) compiled to WebAssembly and executed by pallet-contracts.
Jaguar Mode — Emergency execution mode for burst throughput, priority finality, and national-emergency operations.
LandLedger — The on-chain land registry (runtime index 29): property titles, transfers, and environmental compliance tracking.
Pakit — The sovereign DAG-based storage layer: content-addressed MerkleDAG storage with ML-based optimization.
Pallet — A Substrate runtime module. BelizeChain has 19 Belize-specific pallets at runtime indexes 20–38.
PoUW (Proof of Useful Work) — The consensus contribution model: validators earn rewards for verified federated-learning and quantum work in addition to block production.
Q–Z
SS58 prefix — The address-format prefix. BelizeChain uses prefix 1981, so addresses begin with r1….
spec_version — The runtime version number. It increases with every forkless runtime upgrade; the value in force is reported live on the testnet page.
StorageProof — The pallet (runtime index 38) that verifies Pakit storage proofs on-chain. Merkle proofs are fully verified; ZK proof types are not accepted yet.
Wrapped asset — A bridged external asset (e.g. wETH, wDOT) represented on BelizeChain by a registry entry in the Interoperability pallet.
XCM — Cross-consensus messaging, used for bridge communication with the Polkadot ecosystem.
