DAG Architecture
Pakit uses a sovereign storage system where every file becomes a "block" in a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG).
Multi-Parent Structure
Instead of traditional file storage, Pakit interlinks data blocks cryptographically:
- Genesis Block: The root of the DAG (depth 0).
- New Blocks: Every new piece of data connects to 2-5 parent blocks.
- Balanced Random Strategy: The system links to a mix of recent, under-referenced, and historical blocks to ensure network health.
- Merkle Proofs: Cryptographic verification is available from any block all the way back to genesis, ensuring data authenticity.
Performance
- Hash lookup: < 10ms
- Merkle proof verification: < 5ms
- Compression ratio: > 3x on average
- Storage rate: 200+ blocks/sec
Blockchain Verification
When data is stored in the Pakit DAG, a DagStorageProof is generated and can be anchored on BelizeChain via the StorageProof pallet. This on-chain proof includes the block hash, Merkle root, depth, and compressed size, proving data existence without exposing the data itself on the blockchain.
